Extended Day & Studio Classes

Our After school Program and studio classes offers a fun, engaging space for children to relax and explore after a full day of learning. Activities include creative arts, outdoor play, and hands-on projects that encourage curiosity and social connection, providing a balanced blend of recreation and enrichment.

Almost Home!

Our Montessori After-School Program provides a warm, welcoming environment where children can relax, recharge, and continue learning in a joyful, less structured way. Alden students have access to a wide array of activies to excite their creativty, and playfulness, while enjoying the company of their classmates. Designed to complement the Montessori philosophy, this program offers a balance of outdoor play, creative exploration, and peaceful indoor activities, ensuring that every child feels supported and engaged as they transition from the busy school day to home.

Outdoor Play

Fresh air and movement are essential for healthy development. Each afternoon, children spend time outdoors, enjoying free play and games in a safe, supervised setting. Outdoor time allows children to release energy, build social connections, and develop gross motor skills. Whether climbing, running, or exploring nature, these experiences foster confidence, cooperation, and a love for the natural world.

Relaxed Indoor Activities

Inside, the atmosphere is calm and inviting. Children can choose from a variety of activities that encourage creativity and independence. Options include reading in cozy corners, building with blocks, working on puzzles, or engaging in quiet games with friends. This flexible environment respects each child’s need for choice and supports self-directed learning, even after formal lessons have ended.

Art and Creative Expression

Art is a cornerstone of our after-school program. Children have access to a range of materials—paint, clay, colored pencils, and more—to express themselves freely. Projects are process-oriented, emphasizing creativity rather than perfection. Through art, children develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in their unique ideas. Music and movement activities are also offered, adding rhythm and joy to the afternoon.

Community and Social Development

Our program nurtures friendships and a sense of belonging. Mixed-age groups encourage collaboration and leadership, as older children guide younger peers. Grace and courtesy remain central, with staff modeling kindness and respect. Group activities, such as storytelling or cooperative games, help children practice communication and teamwork in a relaxed setting.
A Peaceful End to the Day
The after-school hours are designed for a smooth transition from school to home. Children leave feeling refreshed and happy, ready to reconnect with their families. By blending outdoor play, creative projects, and quiet indoor time, our Montessori After-School Program supports the whole child—body, mind, and spirit.

Studios

Our Montessori After-School Studio Classes offer children exciting opportunities to explore new interests and develop skills beyond the regular classroom. Taught by our own talented teachers, these classes rotate by semester, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience throughout the year.
Students can choose from a variety of subjects designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and movement. Options include art, where children experiment with different mediums and techniques; science, featuring hands-on experiments and discovery; and music, which introduces rhythm, melody, and instruments in a joyful setting. For those who love active movement, classes like yoga and Zumba promote balance, flexibility, and physical confidence while encouraging mindfulness and fun.
Each studio class is rooted in Montessori principles—hands-on learning, independence, and respect for individual interests, while providing a relaxed, enjoyable environment after the school day. These experiences allow children to explore passions, build friendships, and gain confidence in new areas of learning. By offering a wide range of subjects, our program nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—while creating a vibrant community of learners.
